Double Wide Stage Pocket Extra Deep Back Box with Polyurethane Encapsulation
Polyurethane encapsulated back boxes are available to provide extra protection from incursion of moisture and water by sealing seams, knock-outs, and holes. Using our extra deep, double zinc plated back boxes (8BBXW) a 1/16" thick jacket of polyurethane is applied to the exterior sides and bottom of the back box, permanently bonding with surfaces to form a moisture resistant seal. The polyurethane back box provides protection against harsh climate, chemicals, impact and abrasion. All polyurethane back boxes will have a model number suffix of "W".
ACE polyurethane encapsulated Extra Deep Back Boxes (#1028BBXW and #1048BBXW) are slightly deeper (8”) as compared with Standard #BBX Series Back Boxes (6”) and may be used exclusively with ACE Full and Double Wide Stage Pockets. The #1028BBXW and #1048BBXW polyurethane encapsulated Extra Deep Back Boxes are welded 14 gauge steel with a protective cover that is discarded when the pocket body is finally installed. The box and cover have a clear zinc corrosion resistant finish. A 1/2” mounting flange is predrilled to mate with the pocket body flange. The pocket body assembly is 4.5” deep and the extra deep back box is 8” deep providing a 3.5” work clearance in the bottom of the back box (ideal for feed thru or distribution junction).

MOISTURE PROTECTION:
ACE polyurethane encapsulated back boxes are made from our standard extra deep, double zinc plated back boxes (1028BBX). A 1/16” thick jacket of polyurethane is applied to the exterior sides and bottom of the Back Boxes. The polyurethane encapsulates and permanently bonds with the back box surfaces providing protection against the harsh climate, chemicals, accidental impacts, and abrasions.
CLEARANCE VOLUME:
Standard Stage Pocket body assemblies are 4.5" deep while the polyurethane encapsulated Extra Deep Back Box is 8" deep providing 3.5" work clearance in the bottom of the Extra Deep Back Boxes, making them ideal for feed thru or distribution junctions. Clearance volumes for individual Pocket/Extra Deep Back Box assemblies are as follows:
• #1028BBXW Back Box with Full Pocket Clearance volume: 338 Cubic Inches
• #1048BBXW Back Box with Double Wide Pocket Clearance volume: 613 Cubic Inches
DURABLE CONSTRUCTION:
ACE polyurethane encapsulated Extra Deep Back Boxes (#8BBXW) are made from tough, welded 14 gauge steel (.071" thick).
EASY INSTALLATION:
ACE polyurethane encapsulated Extra Deep Back Boxes are easily installed into the floor or stage in a few steps. First make the cutout in the floor/stage. Second, securely brace the Back Box into the floor and be sure to provide support equal to the floor loading requirements, accounting for any height offset required for the finished floor. Third, attach any standard electrical conduit to the back box on any side via the combination knock outs. Fourth, secure Stage Pocket to Back Box using mating screw holes provided on the Stage Pocket flange and the Back Box flange.
DURABLE FINISH:
ACE Back Boxes have a clear zinc corrosion resistant finish (before applying the Polyurethane Encapsulation).
ELECTRICAL KNOCKOUTS:
ACE Standard Extra Deep Back Boxes come with standard Electrical Conduit Combination Knockouts. 1/2", 3/4", 1", and 1-1/4" Knock Outs 4 places typical on opposing sides. 1/2”, 3/4”, 1”, and 1-1/4” Knock Outs 2 places typical on one side.
PROTECTIVE COVER:
Included with the polyurethane encapsulated Extra Deep Back Box(es) is a protective cover with a clear zinc corrosion resistant finish. This cover maintains a clean Back Box until the pocket is finally installed. The protective cover may be discarded after the pocket has been installed.
